Advanced certifications

CHSOS-A and CHSE-A are portfolio certifications, not exams. Use this checklist to plan your evidence, then confirm current requirements on the SSH pages listed under Resources.

  1. Check eligibility. Hold a current CHSOS or CHSE, then confirm the years of experience and leadership evidence SSH asks for.
  2. Choose your evidence. Pick projects that show leadership beyond your own role: a program you built, a policy you wrote, people you mentored.
  3. Map evidence to the standards. Link each piece of evidence to the advanced competencies, so reviewers see the match without searching.
  4. Collect proof. Gather documents, letters, presentations, publications, and outcome data. Remove any learner or patient identifiers.
  5. Write your reflections. Explain what you did, why, and what changed as a result. Use numbers where you have them.
  6. Get peer references. Ask colleagues who saw the work first-hand. Give them the competencies in advance.
  7. Review and submit. Check every link and file, then submit through the SSH portal.
